It was 4 o clock in the morning and a roar of the engine broke the silence of the sleepy night. The head lights beamed and off we go to reach the clouds.
Nandi hills, only 80 Kms away from the rumble of the city. The clouds kiss the mountain and you can see the valleys below.
You wait till you cross the international airport of Bangalore and then you can test the might of your car. The road, like a ribbon of moonlight, lies ahead of you with not much surprises in offer.
We reached 120 Km/hr on my Maruti Suzuki Alto.
The Nandi village is a small village amidst the grape vines. This is the last village where you can sip caffeine and nicotine before you begin your 7 Kms ascent on to the hill.
I had Pete Seager telling me ballads of how the big rock candy mountains had bull dogs with rubber teeth and trees that grew cigarettes and how did alcohol came trickling down the streams. I wonder if Pete ever came to this place to write those lines.
The mist, the trees, the mountain and the ballads of Pete take you to a world you have never been before.
There is a ticket if you have to go beyond this pleasure. Costs you Rs. 80.
Pay that money, if you want to know what cloud no 9 is.
At the top when your reach ---
Down in the valleys..
Valleys so low..
Hang your head over ..
Hear the wind blow ..
Hear the wind blow love.. hear the wind blow.
The only thing that happens to you is "happyness".You realize happiness is not a pursuit.
